1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using Foil ("the Software"), or by creating an account, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
2. License Grant
Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software for your own personal, non-commercial studying purposes. This license does not transfer ownership of the Software or any of its underlying source code to you.
3. Prohibited Uses
You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to extract, view, or derive the source code, prompts, algorithms, or internal logic of the Software;
- Copy, reproduce, redistribute, sublicense, sell, or otherwise make the Software or any part of it available to third parties outside these Terms;
- Modify the Software or create derivative works, including competing products, based on the Software or any of its components;
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any technical measure intended to protect the Software;
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access or extract data or code from the Software or its distribution channels.
4. Intellectual Property
The Software, including its source code, design, prompts, algorithms, and all associated intellectual property, is and remains the exclusive property of its author. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in that intellectual property except the limited license in Section 2.
5. Accounts & Data
Creating an account is optional. If you create one, you're responsible for keeping your credentials secure. Your own study data (courses, sessions, flashcards) stays on your device unless you opt in to cloud sync. You may request deletion of your account and any synced data at any time.
6. Disclaimer of Warranty
The Software is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The author does not warrant that the Software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI-generated content will always be accurate.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the author shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Software.
8. Termination
This license terminates automatically if you violate any of these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the Software and delete any copies in your possession.
9. Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the Software after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
